Do you know any Bars that has Poetry Reading?

I've always wanted to attend one but I never had the chance and I dont know which bar to go to. I was told by a friend that I should try Magnet over at Katips and they usually have Poetry reading every Monday/Wednesday.

If you know one, please let me know. Thanks! :)

Aside from Magnet I know that Freedom Bar at Anonas used to have poetry reading. So did 70's Bistro. I think they still have poetry reading nights. I will ask the owners and get back to you about it. Unless someone already knows and can tell you, hehehe.

Karen has a regular group of poetry readers,usually at Route 196 or at Mag:net High Street.You could ask her though.It's usually Wawi,Anabel,Karen and Ene I think.

I spoke with Tonnette of Freedom and Nards of 70s and Karen and all of them said the poetry reading thing is not regular for most bars. It's like a group does the circuit and books a night or something. I'll ask around and I will let you know if I hear of any. But you can ask Karen yourself on Saturday, hehehe. Maybe Big Sky has a poetry reading night sometime soon.

Hello, Romancing Venus usually has a night each month we share with other writers (from UP, etc.) at Mag:Net Katipunan. I don't know how that will go this year. Conspiracy as well has a writers night. Bigkas Pilipinas hosted by Kooky Tuason of Romancing Venus airs 9pm to 10pm on 88.3 Saturday nights and she has spoken word performers as guests and she plays spoken word tracks.

The scene is quite alive if you can find it. As soon as I hear of a good night / show, I'll let you know. There's a fundraising performance night at Conspiracy for a lesbian literature project, I just forgot the date.

Thanks for showing interest. (Gosh I shouldn't be using this pirate icon for poetry matters--it makes me such a "Shakespeare.")
